Re: Daily reporting for 11th March, by kramerjo

I think my last update got sucked into cyber space.  Hopefully this isn't a repeat

@ ceg130- thank you !!  how true that quote is

@ crispinhay- keep up the good work on your habits during the selling/buying time.  It will be worth it in the long run if you can stick with them.  I have both a friend and sister in the similar buying/selling situations and they are definitely stressed. I would be too.  I'm impressed you've stuck with the majority of your habits during this time.

Good luck kramerjo - My favorite quote from Dan Littleman is "A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing"  I try to remember this like when I think "if I can't go to the gym for 2 hours I may as well not go at all" etc

YIKES Here is my day --- I have to regroup for tomorrow

@kramerjo, it can't hurt to go back and check it out!

Very productive and restorative weekend -- did walks both days, and spent a bunch of time decluttering (home alone for the weekend.

Now am sitting down with a pile of mending, glass of wine and the oscars...

Many thanks for the feedback, @kramerjo + @bugalooski. You and the other good people on here keep me coming back too!

It's great when you realise something's got better, bit by bit, without you hardly even noticing it, isn't it, @kramerjo!?

In the middle of trying to sell one property and buy another, in super quick time. There's a lot of different things to think about! This is the sort of occasion when I'd drop all my habits in the past, but they seem more important than ever. The give and take on this forum helps so very much.

Daily Reporting 5th March 2010, by bugalooski

Hi all, sorry I have been offline. I am still hit and miss on my habits, and am doing them at about 60%.  So, I'm walking every other day, decluttering as well.

Today:
Walking:  30 mn this AM outside, no decluttering yet.

I am trying to reduce my screen time, so I may not report in again until Monday!   This inspired by Leo's post today on zenhabits.net about finding peace.

@ceg, @crispinhay, @kramerjo -- way to go on your habits and continuing your hard work.  You keep me coming back.

Have a great weekend.

Re: Daily Reporting 4th March , by kramerjo

Crispinhay- congrats on your week of mindful eating progress.  Definitely an important but not nec easy goal to work on.

MITs 1.5/2
Activity- walking
Tech skills- plan to do  10 min right after reporting

I'm going to try again to have tues and thur be focus days for my activity habit.  I let things slip mostly out of lack of convenience and not wanting to get up earlier on those days.  I think over the next couple of weeks I'll fall back into a better routine.  Definitely want to improve on the activity habit but am hoping the sheer consistency of it will help even if I don't increase the intensity.

Yesterday I noticed that a skill I had been working on for a while in small time increments was suddenly fairly easy.  I was pretty excited as I was losing faith that I would ever get it.  Of course I'll have to see how it goes the next time to know for certain but it definitely renewed my faith in small things consistently add up.

Have a great day all

Re: Poll: What new habit are you forming in the Challenge?, by aishasobh

My (new) challenge is to work fitness into my daily life. I usually want to do it @ 6:30 am, but lately I've fretted when I couldn't get to the gym that early, and if I don't do it then, I just don't do it, although I love working out. So now I will look at it as something I can do after I do a more trying task (writing), and that is how I will reward myself (w/a workout). Every time I work out, I feel so much better that I think to myself that I never want to miss it!  My triggers are to have my bag ready to go OR to workout at home. But my bad triggers are the internet and email. I know you said 1 challenge a week, but I'm wasting so much time on the internet that I miss working out-so I am trying to drastically cut down, and after this message-I'm off for a while!

@pmcknight, 17 years on I can say that quitting the smokes is so worthwhile. you start to notice the benefits right from the start, including psychological ones, and they keep on accruing.
