Day 1 - Eat healthy and only when hungry

Today was not such a good day for one reason and one reason only: Took my son to a follow-up weight check - he gained only 2.5 oz in 2 weeks. Dr will be referring us to a GI specialist. I'm very scared and concerned. I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the positives.
My son is 6 months old (will be7 mo in a week) and can do many things:

  • Crawl with his hands
  • Sit with no support
  • Stand while holding the bars of his activity cube
  • Move/Walk around to the adjacent side while playing in his activity cube
  • Is very alert and identifies lot of different sounds, lights and shapes
  • Smiles a lot and jumps up and down every day
  • Identifies when we walk into the room and gets very excited
  • Becomes conscious of any new surroundings or people
  • Smiles at kids - both his age and older ones
  • Remembers stuff and grasps things quickly
So what if he is sent to a GI specialist? If anything, it can only be good for him. This way the doctors will identify if his digestive system is not very mature and help us improve it. It is way better than just guessing what the problem could be and not doing anything.

In terms of my 30 day habit, I had the following today:
1. Breakfast - Boiled eggs, Milk and a slice of bagel
2. Lunch - Broccoli soup
3. Evening snack - Tea and a piece of carrot cake
4. Dinner - Noodles

Overall, I'm happy with the choices I made.In fact, I need to cut all dairy products from my diet until further notice from my son's doctor.

Eating healthy and only when hungry

I used to be great at taking care of myself, my health, doing yoga and eating right. But since my pregnancy and after I had a baby I hardly get any activity/exercise and constantly eat even when I'm not hungry. I've always had a bit of a emotional-eating problem, but never dug deeper to find out why.
My new habit is to stop myself and think before eating anything. The idea is that during the time I stop to think, I'd be able to rationalize and come to terms with not eating if I'm not really hungry or if the food I'm about to grab is not very healthy.
I'm hoping this forum would be a great support in helping me achieve this goal.

Wish me good luck and tell me what your new goals are!!
