I have mild psoriasis, having been diagnosed with it in my early 20's. I know I don't have it as bad as some people do, but even so, it is an embarassing ailment to have. Lately I have noticed that I have neglected it to the extent that it has spread a little more than I would have hoped. I therefore want to take steps to ensure that I 'nip this in the bud' and start to take proper care of my skin to to lessen the visual impact it has.
Digitalmaverick - I have psoriasis and I am going to start taking better care of it
hello digitalmeverick :)
I welcome you to the challenge!
I had to look into the dictionary to understand what you mean by "nip this in the bud". I used this as an opportunity to learn something new.
I have a few questions to you, hoping to let you know some more of what you want, what is in it for you... feel free to answer them publicly or privately (to yourself) :
What is the opportunity for you if you start paying attention to you?
How will you know the problem is solved?
When will you start to "take steps" and start to take proper care of your skin?
What specifically will you do?
What is the trigger that will let you know you will start your 30 days daily routine?
What are you learning by answering these questions?
I hope my questions help you. :)
Good luck with your challenge,
Ioan
Thanks for your reply.
I am a teacher and my psoriasis, although mild, can look unsightly with pupils ofetn asking if I've banged my head or laughing at the large flakes I leave in my wake wherever I go. So I guess I just want to take more of a pride in my personal appearance than has been the case recently. Most of all though I want to be able to wear short-sleeved shirts again and shorts without knowing that my legs look like thos of an 80 year old man.
I'll know the problem is being solved when I've adopted a sequence of events that I can follow without having to really think about it. When I am cooking healthy food, or running a bath with emolient without treating it as a special even, then I'll know I am on the right track.
I'm starting to take steps right now - and this week will see me become more pro-active, using this forum as a stimulus.
I'm going to ensure I use only products that are good for my skin, eat foods rich in nutrients I need and cut down on the things that are not doing me any good.
The trigger was looking in the mirror on New Years Eve and realising quite how much I'd neglected myself.
The questions you asked have helped me to look deeply at what I plan to do so that I hope it will not be a 'three-day wonder', and instead be something I will stick with.
