Started my ten minutes of meditation. Realized how out of touch I am with meditating. 5 minutes in my two cats started to beat up my baby cat-horrific screaming-even a collar came off one cat! Went back started again. Need to organize some sort of subjects/intention to meditate on so that I can just pick one at random and 'go'.

Day 3. Wrote again for much longer than 10 mins, so not going to beat myself up that I missed yesterday!

I just did my 10 minutes of instrumental playing, on my 5-string acoustic viola. I got a LOT of other things done today while procrastinating about doing this :) I'm still trying to work out a suitable "Trigger", because my days vary so much.

This is Day 4 of my 30-day challenge. My schedule was completely off today after a late night ringing in the New Year. I just did 10 minutes of sitting meditation. I was completely distracted by a text message alert on my cell phone, so starting tomorrow I'll turn off my cell and landline before I sit for meditation.

This is my day one and I joined just minutes ago. My habit change will be to attend an AA meeting for 30 straight days with the accompanying abstention from beer.

Day 4. I did 10 minutes of strength training. 10 minutes is less than I want to do on an average day but meeting the minimum is all that counts. I did situps, pushups, back extensions and lunges. Boring. And my abs are so weak, I don't think I did more than 30 situps! But day 4 is done. Happy New Year everyone.

I spent 10 minutes doing several different exercises with 8lb dumbbells, then did about 5 minutes of abs (with a bit of help from my dogs).

Just completed my objective for today. 4 days in a row! This just keeps getting better and better.

I sat down and rewrote a chapter of my novel that I had originally written 4 years ago. If you're interested, I blogged about it here:
http://www.worthlessgenius.com/2009/01/01/the-challenge-of-rewriting/

I've decided over the next few days to go back and re-read what I have, and make changes for continuity so that I can have a better flow in place when I go to finish out the overall timeline of the story.

Today was great.
I didn't have a single piece of candy, and I even trashed a few snack food items I knew would be tempting me.
Had a healthy breakfast and dinner.

Reaching my goal calories every day isn't nearly as hard as I thought it might be. The past few days, I've actually come up short.

I cheated and weighed myself and I've already lost a pound or so. Yay! :D haha

Hope everyone else has been met with success, and if not - keep at it :)

Day 1 - spent my 10 min reading 3 articles I had downloaded earlier.

I walked for at 15 minutes today - despite black ice and snow STILL being around instead of our usual rainy weather. Then I shovelled our front walk to get rid of the last 2 cm of snow...

Even though my trigger was about 5 hours ago, I decided to do my exercises right here in my little office. I got all of them done, but now I remember why I don't work out in here--about 90% of the available floor space squeaks:) But I am glad I did the exercises anyway. Now I'm off to find that heating pad.

I spent about 1 1/2 hour going through a 9" high (atleast 11+ years) collection of recipes that i have torn out of various magazines, downloaded from the internet etc...I weeded through them, threw out any that didnt sound amazing. I wittled it down to about 5". Then I sorted them by desserts, side dishes, main dishes, appetizers. Yes......

Tomorrow I think I going to scan the recipes into my computer and set up folder system, so that when i need a recipe, i can search by filename to decide what i want to make...

Happy new year everyone!

We were home most of the day today, so not a lot of spending to track, but started a mint.com account and will start to use cards for everything and just take out a cash amount each week and then divide those up. It should make it much easier to track spending. When I looked at how much we spent last month from our accounts I almost fainted. Gotta make some cuts! Tracking will help immensely though! Good luck all!

I did 10 minutes voice work. Some anxiety was involved because I felt like I needed to cram what should be done in an hour into 10 minutes, so I'll have to remind myself that I don't have to every voice exercise right away.

Day One: I just did my 10 minutes of writing, despite really not wanting to and not following the original trigger. Oh well, I did it, and I'm excited!

Day one, and I far exceeded my time limit. I found some things that needed further organizing (office boxes, take-out menus and coupons). I'm finishing up the office tonight, then I'll do the other two the next two evenings. Then I should have no problem sticking to my less than 30 minutes time frame.

Happy 2009!
